Legal DNA Testing for Paternity

dadcheck® are on the Ministry of Justice list of approved companies for performing maternity and paternity DNA tests for legal use. This means our legal DNA tests can be used to change details on a Birth Certificate, the Courts, CSA/CMS amongst other legal reasons.

For legal DNA tests we have to be in control of the sample collection and we undertake a protocol to identify the person providing the samples.  This will be undertaken by one of our registered samplers with the DNA test kit sent directly to our collectors. The samples then come directly back to our lab - maintaining what is often called a "chain of custody".

  • Step 1

    Contact us either online or by telephone to arrange for a personalised quotation depending on your own testing requirements.

  • Step 2

    We just need to take a £200 deposit at the time of ordering to cover the cost of the kit preparation and any sample collection appointments required.
    The residual balance must be paid in full before we can release the result.

  • Step 3

    Provide us with the full names and dates of birth of all test participants and the details of where each sample is to be collected.

Important information regarding sample collections:

We have a large network of registered sample collectors who can visit the donor in the comfort of their own home on a day and at a time that fits with them.

Fees shall apply for this service, please provide us the collection address so that we may provide a quotation.

If you live locally or do not mind travelling (our postal code is DH7 0EX), then you are more than welcome to attend our offices to have your samples taken free of charge.

  • Step 4

    We will liaise with the donors as required for their sample collection appointments.

  • Step 5

    From the date that we receive ALL samples for processing into the laboratory we quote 4 working days for delivery of DNA test results.

    The DNA test report will be sent to the ordering party, as well as all test donors over the age of 16 years and the party who signs for Parental Responsibility for the child if they are under 16 years.
